I love a glass of wine, but I love it even better when it’s fun and fancy! This frozen treat is perfect poolside on a hot summer day, or even for a party to make things more fun!

After making a wide variety of boozy popsicles I had to see if I could do the same with wine. And I am so glad I did because these are just too good! Between these wine popsicles and wine slushies, it’s going to be one amazing Summer!

This recipe uses just a few easily customizable ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Juice
  • Wine
  • Fruit (optional)
  • Sugar (optional)
Bowls of fruit, wine and lemon juice on a wooden surface next to a towel

How To Make Wine Popsicles

Making your own alcohol popsicles is fun, but the most fun comes when they’re done! Here’s what you need to do before savoring these treats:

  1. If using, add fruit to molds then pour in wine and juice mixture.

Popsicle mold suggestions

You can use any molds you like, but these are some I recommend:

Tips and tricks

When making these refreshing wine popsicles, keep the following suggestions in mind:

  • I like to use sauvignon blanc, but any will work. No matter what varietal of wine I use, I like to try to pick a healthier wine.
  • Since alcohol doesn’t freeze, and wine has a decent percentage of alcohol, you need to make sure you use enough juice. A ratio of 2 parts juice to 1 part wine works best.
  • Freeze the wine popsicles for at least 4-6 hours before trying to remove from the molds.
  • You definitely want to make sure your kids don’t get into these. The easiest way to separate is by container, shape or color. Use the different container types to indicate wine or no wine. You can also use different color popsicle sticks. I don’t recommend solely marking anything with a pen or marker because that can easily come off (this may or may not have happened to me, eek!).

Common Questions

Can you freeze wine into Popsicles?

Yes! And it’s so delicious! You’ll need to mix in another liquid as well like juice though in order for it to freeze. For wine popsicles use a ratio of 2 parts juice, 1 part wine.

Can you make popsicles with alcohol?

You can! However, because alcohol doesn’t freeze, you’ll need to mix in another liquid as well. You’ll want at least a ratio of 4 parts juice 1 part hard alcohol.

How long does it take alcohol popsicles to freeze?

It will take a minimum of 4 to 6 hours for alcohol popsicles to freeze.
