Making homemade gifts for Valentine’s Day is a great way to show your loved ones how much you care. And while you may think creating DIY gifts for the holiday takes too much time and effort, handmade gifts don’t have to be difficult to put together.

With the help of cute printable handmade gift tags, some easy dessert recipes (or candy), and your Cricut (or any color printer + sharp scissors), you can put together an adorable I Love You Jar gift in a matter of minutes!

How to Make Valentine’s Day Cards with a Cricut

Using your Cricut is one of the best ways to make amazing homemade crafts without much effort. And with the print then cut feature, you can create a beautiful handmade card in minutes. To make your own Valentine’s Day cards with your Cricut, you’ll need:

  • Printable cards. Start by downloading my free printable gift tags to use with your Circuit. The PNG file is designed to be used in Design Space, making it a great choice for an easy valentine gift.
  • Cardstock. Print out the cards on heavy cardstock to ensure they look amazing on each of your homemade gifts.
  • Valentine’s gift. Once you print and cut your cards, you’ll need a gift to put it on! Keep reading to get some great ideas for gifts you can use with your printable valentine cards.
  • Ribbon or tape. Attach your card to the gift with ribbon or tape to ensure it stays in place on your gift. Ribbon allows you to add a pop of color to your gift and a cute bow, too.

After gathering up your supplies, it’s time to start cutting! Start by uploading the PNG file into Design Space, then select the print then cut option when prompted.

You may need to resize the design to fit on your gift, so take the time to measure your present to see how big you want your printable cards to be.

When you have decided on a size for your cards, hit the Make It button in Design Space and print your cards on cardstock. After the cards have printed you can place the printed sheet directly on your cutting mat. Use the image that appears on your screen to help you see where you should attach the paper to the mat.

Load the mat into the Cricut and hit the flashing button to start cutting. Your Cricut will use the black border around your design to know exactly where it needs to cut. When the cutting is done, you can unload your mat and remove your gift tags from the cutting mat.

And that’s it! You have beautiful printed valentine cards without any hard work from you!

How to Make Handmade Gift Tags for Valentine’s Day Without A Cricut

Instead of using a Cricut to cut these cards for homemade Valentine’s Day gifts, you can also use scissors to make your own DIY gift tags. To make your tags using this method, simply download the PDF version of the cards, print them on cardstock, then use your scissors to cut the cards out around the outer border.

After that, your cards are ready to be attached to your Valentine’s Day gifts!

I Love You Jar Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Now that you have your cards ready to go, it’s time to start adding them to gifts. But if you don’t have any good ideas for using your printable cards, don’t worry! There are a variety of love jar ideas you can use to wish your loved ones a “sweet” Valentine’s Day:

  • Candy. You can’t go wrong when giving candy for Valentine’s Day. Fill up a jar with candy and tie the card to the top. Or simply attach your gift tag to a box of your loved one’s favorite chocolates to add a personalized touch to a store-bought gift.
  • Baked goods. Making homemade treats for Valentine’s Day is another great way to show your friends and family you care. There are a variety of sweet treats you can make for the occasion, including cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, brownies, cheesecake, or even homemade candy. See below for my favorite recipes! After you bake your treats, place them in a cute box, then attach the printable card to the top to show your friends your appreciation.
  • Hot chocolate. Enjoying a nice cup of hot chocolate on a cold February day is a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. And these fun gift tags would make the perfect addition to a hot chocolate gift. You can give your loved ones homemade hot chocolate, prepackaged hot chocolate, or even hot cocoa bombs along with this cute gift tag to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year.
  • Love Jar for Valentine’s Day Notes. Instead of candy or baked goodies, try filling up your Valentine’s Day mason jar with notes to your loved one! They can be a variety of notes talking about all of the different reasons why you love them, how they make you feel, what you appreciate about them, or love affirmations.

After you have decided on the perfect gift, you can start packaging everything up to give to your friends and family. Start by placing your sweet treat in a cute box, basket, or jar. Then, use a hole punch to punch a hole in the top of each card. Flip the card over and sign your name on the back. Then, use ribbon to tie the card to the gift. After that, all you have to do is deliver your adorable handmade gifts to everyone on your Valentine’s day list.
