Frozen Wine Slushie Recipe

When a cold glass of wine is not enough to cool me down on a hot day, I make frozen wine slushies. In just 10 minutes, I have turned frozen fruit, my favorite wine, and a squeeze of fresh lemon into a refreshing and frosty drink.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen fruit of choice
  • 1 ½ cups wine of choice , I used a sauvignon blanc
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice , optional for added tartness
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar , optional for added sweetness

Instructions

  • Put everything into a blender and blend until frosty.
  • Serve in your favorite glasses!

Notes

  • My #1 Secret Tip for this frozen wine slushie recipe is to use frozen fruit and never use ice cubes. Frozen fruit gives the classic slushie texture and concentrated fruit flavor without watering down the wine. A traditional ice-based slushie will melt a lot sooner and dilute all the flavors.
  • Taste before serving: Different fruits and wines vary in sweetness and acidity, so I always taste the finished slushie before pouring it into glasses.
  • Start with cold wine: Chilled wine blends faster and helps the slushie reach the perfect icy consistency without overworking the blender.
  • Blend in stages: If I am working with a blender that struggles with frozen fruit, I pulse it a few times first before blending continuously. This helps everything break down more consistently.
  • Add liquids first: I pour the wine into the blender before adding the fruit, as this creates a base for everything to blend more easily.
  • Scrape down: Stopping and scraping down the side of the blender is how I ensure a smooth slushie without any chunks of frozen fruit.
