- My #1 Secret Tip for this boba smoothie recipe is to cook the tapioca pearls shortly before serving. I make sure I have all my smoothie ingredients prepared and ready to go. This way, my pearls do not stand out for too long, at risk of becoming hard.
- Do not overcook: I watch the pearls closely as they cook, making sure they do not become too soft instead of chewy.
- Rinse pearls lightly: I rinse the pearls lightly in warm water to remove any excess starch, making sure to keep them warm before adding the sugar.
- Blend well: I blend the smoothie until it is completely smooth, allowing for a good contrast of textures with the pearls.
- Use a bubble tea straw: Serve these smoothies with boba straws that are large enough for the tapioca pearls to fit through.
