Starbucks Dragon Drink Recipe
From a secret menu item to a homemade copycat version, this Starbucks dragon drink is a fresh, fruity, and creamy caffeinated alternative to your average cup of Joe. I use sweet mango juice, coconut milk, and fresh dragon fruit to recreate the signature magenta color and smooth texture in just 10 minutes.

In a small bowl, whisk together the dragon fruit powder and the green tea powder with two tablespoons of apple juice. Stir until smooth.
In a cocktail shaker, add a scoop of ice, the dragon fruit mixture, remaining apple and mango juice, and coconut milk.
Attach the lid and shake well until combined.
Add several ice cubes and diced dragon fruit pieces to a large serving glass.
Pour the drink into a serving glass and serve immediately.
- My #1 Secret Tip for this dragon drink recipe is to dissolve the dragon fruit powder completely in the apple juice before adding anything else. When I skip this step or rush through it, I end up with little clumps of powder floating in my drink.
- Use light apple juice: I always reach for a light colored apple juice, or a pressed juice with a neutral color. A darker juice muddies the pink hue of the finished drink.
- Control your color: The ratio of dragon fruit powder to coconut milk is what controls how pink or purple your drink turns out. For an intense magenta, I use slightly less coconut milk, and for a softer lavender shade, I pour in a little more.
- Shake well: I make sure to shake the cocktail shaker vigorously for a full 15-20 seconds. This is what gives the drinks the creamy, frothy texture similar to the original Starbucks version.
- Add ice last: I always add fresh ice cubes to the serving glass right before pouring. This prevents it from melting faster and watering down the flavors.
- Sweeten gradually: This drink is already sweet thanks to the mango and apple juice, but if I want it a bit sweeter, I add a small amount of simple syrup or coconut sugar to the shaker and taste as I go.
