Instructions

  • If using the croissant dough: Roll the croissant dough piece to form a crescent shape by rolling the dough from the larger base end up to the pointed end.
  • If using puff pastry: Allow the pastry to thaw and come to room temperature before cutting the softened dough into large triangles and roll each one to form a crescent shape as described above (in the croissant dough step).
  • If using frozen unbaked croissants: Allow the croissants to thaw and come to room temperature.
  • Heat the waffle maker as instructed by the manufacturer.
  • Roll the prepared dough crescents in sugar and lightly press to flatten.
  • Cook in the heated waffle maker, you may need to cook one at a time, until lightly golden and cooked through. You may need to lightly spray the waffle maker to prevent the croissants from sticking.
  • Remove and repeat with remaining dough.
  • Serve immediately with a dusting of powdered sugar.

Tips
  • Croffles are best enjoyed immediately.
  • Make sure the dough has defrosted and is easy to bend without breaking.
  • Defrost dough in the fridge overnight before using.
  • Lightly flatten the croissants to help with even cooking.
  • For flavor variations fill the dough before rolling up and cooking.
  • Be sure not to over filled the dough otherwise the filling will escape and burn when cooking.

  • Cinnamon Sugar: Sprinkle the dough with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar before rolling and cooking.
  • Chocolate Or Nutella: Spread with a thin layer of chocolate spread, roll and cook as instructed. Top with chocolate spread and chocolate chips.
  • Strawberry Jam: Spread with a thin layer of strawberry jam, roll and cook as instructed.
  • Fresh Fruit: Thinly slice fresh berries, spread a thin layer over the dough before rolling and cook as instructed. You can also use other fresh fruit like diced apples, sliced bananas, or pears.
  • Raspberry White Chocolate: Melt some white chocolate and spread it over the pastry before rolling up and cooking. Top with fresh raspberries and a drizzle of melted white chocolate.
  • Banana And Biscoff: Spread a layer of Biscoff spread over the croissant dough before rolling and cooking. Top with sliced banana.
  • Honey: Spread a thin layer of honey or date syrup over the pastry before rolling up and cooking. Serve with yogurt and a drizzle of honey.
  • Zucchini Cheddar: Spread with a thin layer of cheese and shredded zucchini, roll and cook as instructed.
  • Chives: Thinly slice chives, spread a thin layer over the dough before rolling and cook as instructed. Top with cream cheese.

  • Avocado & Tomato: Spread a layer of thinly sliced tomatoes before rolling and cooking. Top with avocado slices and fresh tomato after cooking.
  • Feta & Hot Honey: Spread a thin layer of hot honey & feta over the pastry before rolling up and cooking. Serve with an extra drizzle of honey, feta crumbles, and red pepper flakes.
