Preheat the waffle machine.
Whisk the flour, baking powder and sugar in a mixing bowl.
In a separate mixing bowl add the oat milk, egg, vanilla extract, oil and nutella. Whisk until smooth.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and whisk until incorporated and no lumps, being careful not to overmix the batter.
Scoop the batter into the waffle machine, being careful not to over fill, and cook as directed by the manufacturer.
When the waffle is cooked remove and repeat with remaining batter. Batter makes 6 large waffles.
Serve topped with a drizzle of nutella, crushed hazelnuts, whipped cream or coconut cream or any of your favorite toppings.

- I make sure my waffle iron is hot enough before adding the batter. I learned this the hard way when I was in a rush one morning and didn’t wait long enough, the result? Soft, pale waffles that just didn’t have that crisp I was looking for. Now, I always let my waffle maker fully preheat before I start cooking, and trust me, the difference is huge. The waffles come out golden, crispy on the outside, and perfectly fluffy inside, just the way they should be.
- I always use a good quality waffle maker because it makes a huge difference! A non-stick surface and even heating help my Nutella waffles turn out crispy and perfect every time.
-
- I’m careful not to overfill the waffle iron, too much batter makes them thick and undercooked, too little makes them flat. I stick to the recommended amount and adjust as needed for my waffle maker.
-
- If I’m making a big batch, I keep the waffles warm in the oven while I cook the rest. Placing them on a baking sheet or straight on the oven rack helps keep them crispy until it’s time to serve!
