Notes

  • Choose Organic: Opt for an organic red velvet cake mix for this recipe. Organic mixes are free of artificial colors and preservatives, making your cookies healthier and more natural.
  • Hand Mix for Best Results: Stir the ingredients by hand to achieve the best texture. Overmixing with an electric mixer can make the cookies tough, while hand mixing makes sure that they stay light and fudgy.
  • Use an Ice Cream Scoop: Use an ice cream scoop to create evenly sized cookies. This guarantees that they all bake at the same rate and come out perfectly done at the same time.
  • Monitor Baking Time: Be sure to keep an eye on your cookies while they're in the oven. Baking for exactly ten minutes will give you a soft, fudgy center. If you prefer a crispier cookie, add a couple more minutes.
  • Adjust for Smaller Cake Mix: This recipe calls for an 18 ounce cake mix. But if you can only find a smaller 15 ounce cake mix, add a quarter cup of all-purpose flour to achieve the right consistency.
