Notes

  • You can use fresh, canned or frozen pineapple for this recipe.
  • Use ripe pineapples that are soft and easy to mash.
  • If using canned pineapple, be sure to drain completely before pureeing.
  • If using frozen pineapple, allow it to sit out to defrost or warm in the microwave before use.
  • Thin this puree to your required consistency by using either water, breastmilk or formula. But only add breastmilk or formula right before serving, do not add it and then store the puree in the fridge or freeze it. If you're planning to make this puree ahead of time, only use water to thin it out, and then add any additional breastmilk or formula immediately before serving.
  • If your baby doesn't like the taste of pineapple on its own, you can add a little bit of banana or mango to the puree.
  • Pineapple puree is a great way to add sweetness to other baby food recipes. For example, you can add it to a puree of sweet potatoes or carrots.
  • Pineapple puree is also a great way to make baby food popsicles. Simply freeze the puree in ice cube trays and then pop them out for a refreshing treat!
  • To freeze, pour the puree into ice cube trays and freeze for 4-6 hours or until solid. Transfer to a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 3 months. To thaw, remove a cube from the freezer and place it in an airtight container. Let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Do not refreeze any thawed puree.
