Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes

These delicious garlic air fryer smashed potatoes are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and are packed with flavor! They take less than an hour to make, and turn out perfectly every time. Naturally gluten free and with a vegan option, these crispy potatoes are an easy side dish that will quickly become a family favorite recipe!

  • Wash the potatoes before adding to a pot of cold water.
  • Bring the potatoes to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
  • Remove from the heat and drain.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F / 200 C.
  • Use a small glass, fork or potato masher to gently smash the potatoes.
  • Place the smashed potatoes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl mix together the oil, garlic, paprika, salt and pepper.
  • Coat both sides of the smashed potatoes in the oil mixture.
  • Place the smashed potatoes into the air fryer basket in an even layer without overlapping.
  • Cook the potatoes for 10 minutes at 400 degrees F / 200 C.
  • Turn the potatoes and continue to cook for another 4 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and continue to cook for another 6 minutes until crispy.
  • Remove and repeat with remaining potatoes.
  • Serve hot with a sprinkle of chopped parsley and sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • To make these vegan friendly substitute the parmesan cheese for vegan cheese.
  • If using larger potatoes, simply cut them into half or quarters before boiling.
  • Cooking time may vary depending on the size of the potatoes and the air fryer you’re using.
