Blackberry Simple Syrup

You'll need just 15 minutes and 4 simple ingredients to make this mouthwatering blackberry simple syrup recipe. Use it in your favorite cocktails (or mocktails), in teas and sodas, in place of maple syrup on pancakes, over vanilla ice cream, and more!

Instructions

  • Bring the water, sugar, berries and lemon juice to a boil in a medium pot.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Using the back of a fork, spatula or a potato masher, mash the berries to release the juices.
  • Pour the syrup through a sieve to remove all seeds and pulp.
  • Transfer the syrup to a sterilized glass jar.
  • Store in the fridge for up to a month.

Notes

  • Fresh or frozen berries can be used. 
  • No need to defrost frozen berries before using.
  • Take care when straining the syrup as the syrup is extremely hot.
  • This recipe can be easly doubled or even tripled.
  • Discard the seeds and pulp.
