Vegan Arepas (+ Filling Ideas!)

These 3-ingredient vegan arepas are gently pan-fried and then baked for a crispy outside and fluffy inside! Made in just 30 minutes, this is an easy snack, appetizer, or main meal for any time of day.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F / 180 C. Stir the precooked cornmeal and salt together in a large bowl.

COMBINE DRY INGREDIENTS:

Slowly add the warm water while continuously mixing until a soft dough has formed.

ADD WATER:

Knead for 3-4 minutes before resting the dough for 15 minutes.

KNEAD, THEN REST:

Divide the dough equally into 6-8 pieces.

DIVIDE DOUGH:

Shape into dough balls, rolling the pieces in the palm of your hand. Then, gently press to form a disc shape.
