BISCUITS WITHOUT BAKING POWDER

PREHEAT OVEN

First, preheat oven to 400°F. Freeze butter for 15 minutes. Combine flour, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar.

GRATE BUTTER

Using a cheese grater, grate the butter over the flour mixture. Combine the ingredients with your hands.

KNEAD DOUGH

Next, add milk to the flour mixture and knead the dough to combine.

FLATTEN DOUGH

Place the dough on a clean and floured surface and extend the dough with your hands. Fold the dough over, then extend it again. Repeat three times for flaky layers.

CUT THE BISCUITS

Biscuit or cookie cutter, cut the dough into 16 biscuits.

PLACE ON BAKING SHEET

Next, transfer the cookies to the baking sheet.
